Purpose of Discipline Plan 

Our school-wide discipline plan follows a Multi-tiered System of Support that focuses on tier 1 (all students) universal expectations.  We teach these expectations, provide feedback, and enforce in all common areas of our building.  Second Step is a skill-based social emotional curriculum that teaches students healthy social-emotional habits.  Our student support department offers tier 2 services (small groups) for students that need similar skill practice on a variety of behavioral topics.  Tier 3 (individual) services are offered for students that need the most intensive layer of support to teach lagging skills.  We have a licensed, school-based therapist that offers therapy services to students in need throughout the school year.   Schools that implement this tiered service model can expect a decrease in the number of office discipline referrals, a decrease in suspensions, an increase in academic achievement, and more time for teachers to teach, students to learn, and administrators to run their schools efficiently and effectively.
